Q: How long do I have to wait to hear my requested song?
A: Requests are played on a first-come first-serve basis. If there are several listeners making requests at the same time, it may take longer for your request to play.
Q: How long do I have to wait before I can request the same song again? What about different songs by the same artist?
A: The same song cannot be requested again until 36 hours (1.5 days) have elapsed since the last time the song was played.
A different song by the same Movie can be requested when 6 hours have elapsed since the last time a song by that Movie played.
Q: Why do you make us wait 36 hours before we can request the same song again?
A: This is done to ensure variety, and to prevent people from requesting the same songs at approximately the same time every day.
The playlist features over 1,186 songs from more than 211 Movie's, so there are plenty of good songs available to request at any time.
Please keep this in mind: When you request a song, you are not the only person that will hear it. Everybody else that is listening to the station will hear your song request too. Although you might like hearing your favorite song at 11 AM every day, most of the other listeners would prefer that it not play that often or that routine.
Q: My attempt to make a request failed because I have already reached my request limit. What does that mean?
A: 'JOREFM' limits the number of requests that a listener can make within a given hour, or half hour, in order to give all listeners a chance to hear their requests. If I didn't limit the number of requests that you could make, one listener might make dozens of requests and clog up the song queue so that nobody else’s requests are heard.
If your request fails because you’ve already filled your quota of requests, you can try again a little later.
Q: I tried to make a request, but it failed without giving an explanation. Does this mean that the station is not accepting requests?
A: No, if the station stops taking requests because it is airing special programming, the request failure message would tell you specifically that requests have been "disabled".
If your request fails quickly without giving you a reason, try clicking the request button again.
If your request hangs, stalls, and fails without giving you a reason, it is probably a connectivity problem with my webserver, enixhost.com. If enixhost.com is having troubles, 'JOREFM' will still be on the air but the requests will be dead until enixhost.com returns to life.
Q: Do I have to make a song request in order to listen to the station?
A: No!
The online song request feature is merely an option. By making requests, you can determine which songs will get played soon.
You can tune in and listen without making your own requests. You'll hear the songs that other people are requesting, along with random song selections. If you don't like those selections, make some requests!
Q: What songs get played during periods when nobody is submitting song requests?
A: When listeners aren't using the online song request feature to dictate which songs get played, 'JOREFM' relies upon playlist automation scripting. The automation will continue to select songs to be played, often at random, when no requests are coming in to fill the song queue. 'JOREFM' features over 1,186 songs from more than 211 Movie's, and each song is available for selection by the playlist automation.
It takes days for all 1,186 songs on 'JOREFM' to play one time each. If you wait for your favorite songs to get played randomly by the station's playlist automation, it could take hours or days for your those songs to play. Instead of leaving it to random chance and automation, you can submit online song requests and force 'JOREFM' to play your favorite songs soon!
